Let them in.
Let them stay.
Let them escape what they are escaping
If they are travelling across the ocean in dodgy boats in the middle of the night they are desperate.
They are not queue jumpers.
They are people.
Like us.
They have endured trauma that most of us cannot even begin to imagine.
Our country is rich and safe.
We have a duty to help.
... to Refugees I say "Welcome- how can I help?"
call me a bleeding heart if you like- I don't mind. I probably am one.
Yes, yes, yes, yes!!!!
ReplyDeleteI agree absolutely Cath - perhaps we should all rant a bit more like this and things might change.
ReplyDeleteoh im so with you here but then again i can see why our govt is cautious...its so hard but as another human being it does tear your heart to see the desperation...but it maKes me so mad when i hear talk back radio and people are calling them 'dirt & scum bags' when they have no idea of their plight and background! Grrrr...
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely!!!
ReplyDeleteThe more the merrier I say :)
Right on sister. Has a "friend" on Facebook ranting about refugees the other day. I was gobsmacked and they realised and I can't speak to them. Garrh.
ReplyDeleteBeautifully said. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteAmen to that! It has been one of my personal rant subjects too :-)

ReplyDeleteThat's not a rant. That's common sense.
ReplyDeleteI couldnt agree more.
ReplyDeleteWell said, Cath.
