A day to think about women all over the world.
A day to remember how far we have come in terms of equality and how far we still have to go...
We have it pretty good in Australia...but we still have a way to go so today, spare a thought for women who are living in domestic violence with nowhere to go, the lack of resources, safe places and huge lack of police education about the impact of domestic violence, women who feel unable to report sexual assault because the legal system treats them like liars, women who, at age 20, feel like its a good idea to get breast implants and other surgery when they already look so beautiful, women who are told they look tired when they just look like a lovely, normal, happy, mum , women who are made to feel like crap for not looking airbruished, women who are discriminated against for just being women.....we still have a long way to go so
Today, embrace all those things you don't like about yourself and say out loud:
I love my cellulite
I love my stretch marks
I love my big thighs
I love my boobs ( be they too small or too big , or too saggy)
I love my wobbly belly
I love my big hips
I love my wobbly arms
I love my blemishes
(have I covered everyone here?)
Because they are part of me, and I look great, because I am a woman.
And women do great things everyday. We have to teach our daughters and sons what real women are what they look like and how to be respectful. We can do anything men can do. Some things we can do better.
SAY IT LOUD:
WE ARE WOMEN AND WE ARE PROUD!!!!
Oh Hooray!! Great post - thankyou!
