Sew Darn Cute 30 Sweet & Simple Designs to Sew & Embellish by Jenny Ryan.
I suggested we also do a giveaway of the book - which they were happy to do - and its a world wide giveaway so keep reading for details....
The first thing you notice about this book is how girly and pretty it is. Lots of raw linen and pastels and sweet projects to sew. As the title suggest, there are 30 different projects to choose from ranging from simple to difficult, but the instructions are great. Very simple to follow and well laid out.
The tone of the book is very chatty and casual with an emphasis on giving it a go without worrying about how perfect it is- which I loved about it. You feel like you are chatting with Jenny- and what's not to love about a woman with a pair of scissors tattooed on her wrist!
There are some fantastic appliques which could be used in lots of different ways. The project that stood out for me was the snake made out of felted woollen sweaters/ jumpers/knits.
Jenny is big on upcycling the fabric you already have- for example all those vintage sheets many of us have tucked away and because lots of the projects are small not only can you make them in a couple of hours but you can use what you already have- perfect for when the creative urge strikes.

Some of you will use this book in exactly the way Jenny describes and will do the projects as they are, others will use it as inspiration and may use aspects of the projects in your own way.
