Many of us, positively wet ourselves when we saw this:
A windmill that knits a scarf. FOR REAL! A wind powered knitting machine!!
Be still my beating heart. I love this. Love!! The genius behind this, Merel Karhof, lives in the UK but is originally from The Netherlands. I love it. I want one. I want one outside my window. I want several of them.
People are so clever.
Speaking of clever, Nikki has written an ace craft book. You can win one, scroll down to enter.
And if you don't win one, or even if you do, stay tuned, Penguin Publishing has sent me another great book to giveaway later in the week! Wait until you see it!!
Awesome! I love the idea of this knitting windmill!
ReplyDeletethat, I want that! Amazing
ReplyDeleteThats hilarious!
ReplyDeleteaw that is SO cool!
ReplyDeleteWhat you need is a windpowered spinning wheel creating yarn for your windpowered knitting machine and then you'd have a truely sustainable scarf with very little effort (especially if you had a sheep-shear-o-matic somewhere getting the fleece off your organic lambs!!).
ReplyDeleteLove the images and what a great idea!!
Oh wow! This is quite possibly the coolest thing I've ever seen. I'm a terrible knitter so this would be perfect!
ReplyDeleteSpeechless, yet oddly covetous.
ReplyDeleteClassic! But I'm not a very structured or ordered person, so would be worried that it would drop a stitch if I missed a day, or add in extra stitches when I tried to catch up. Way too much pressure!! The wind powered one is definitely my favourite.
ReplyDeleteBe still my beating heart. I want that clock. I like the windmill too but I love that clock!
ReplyDeleteThat is so funny! I used to own something like that when I was a kid..not wind driven but kid driven. I could never figure out what to do with the tubes once they were knit..except put tube dresses on my dolls..trouble is..how many tube dresses does a doll need in her wardrobe?
ReplyDeleteour neighbour is renowned in these parts for all his self sufficient off the grid inventions. a pedal powered washing machine and TV, a solar dehydrator and cooker. . . but even HE has never come close to anything this cool. love it!
ReplyDeleteOh my, I received my cushion today and I love love love. I love even more that you knew I'd like it.
ReplyDeleteThank you soooooo very much!

Oh good gravy! Can you just imagine a whole row of those windmills knitting different colored pieces, amazing! A new meaning for "wind sock"! Brilliant.
ReplyDeleteYowzer. I reckon I'd actually knit something if I got me one of those!
ReplyDeletePs this is the first I've commented in ages because I keep getting an annoying message about browsers and cookies when I try. But now it's working for me, rah!
Pps saw your cushion in real living mag this week. Hurrah for you! The one I bought was loved by the recipient :)
ppps been a while but I'm loving the new header too.
omg, i love it too!!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness I want that clock so VERY much!
ReplyDeleteThat is brilliant - I want one too!!
ReplyDeleteoh, wow...such a city as could be built with wool and windmills.

A fascinating discussion is worth comment.
ReplyDeleteI think that you need to write more about this topic,
it might not be a taboo matter but typically people do not discuss
such subjects. To the next! Cheers!!
