Psst.... want to be the first to taste a brand new chocolate?

Cadburys sent me some chocolate! And I have 10 packs of two bars to GIVEAWAY!!!!!! YIIIPPPEEEE!!! And best of all, I have just recently learnt that they are no longer using palm oil.

I would normally not do this kind of thing as Cadburys is such a well, multinational and well, I generally try to avoid these kinds of companies because they are so well, big. I haven't eaten, or even set foot inside of a McD****** or K*C since 1994. Seriously I haven't. Not even to use the bathroom. So I did have a good think about if I wanted to do this..... and I thought after all these years: LIGHTEN UP CATH! It is just chocolate and I want you guys to have some too!

Anyway here is my honest review. I didn't get paid for this I just got a bar of each plus the chance to giveaway 10 packs of each bar.
It is called Bar of Plenty and it comes in two flavours: Berry Fruit, Vanilla Shortcake & Chocolate, and the other is Roast Hazelnut, Honey Roast Cashews and Chocolate.

The first thing I like about it is the size. It is 190g so you could buy this instead of a family block, (because if I am honest if Chef and I open a family block there is generally not much ( ahem...any) left and then I get annoyed at myself because I ate so much chocolate) the family block is 350g- just so you get the comparison. ( I didn't actually know this off the top of my head I did have to look it up)

So here is what it looks like:

This is the nut one:

This is how it tastes:
We do love a nut in chocolate so I had already decided I would like this before I tasted it. As Chef just said " we are nut people" so we were loving the nut, and I actually could taste the cashews and the hazelnuts. It was really good. I would buy it again. Thumbs up for the nut one. Chef says: We are nuts.

This is the berry one:
I think this one sounds so much better than it tastes. To be honest I couldn't really taste berry fruit and vanilla shortcake at all, Chef says he could. But he is a Chef. The actual name of the flavour doesn't really appeal to me and I didn't think it tasted to exciting. I probably wouldn't buy this one.
So you want to make up your own mind right?

  1. Ooooohhhh chocolate!! The first thing it makes me think of is definetely guilt, but i don't let that stop me. I remember reading somewhere that to burn of a fun size Mars Bar you have to walk for 2 hours or something crazy.........yep still doesn't stop me!!

  2. The fist thing I think is "give me, give me", followed by "yum" followed by the guilt and general queasiness. I always go back for more though:)

  3. Oh wow! I want Cadbury's to send me chocolate! The first thing I think is YUM! Then I think, have I already had some today? Then I think, I should put the kettle on, because I like to have chocolate with a cup of tea. Then when the tea is ready I think YUM! (again, because I am eating it).

  6. Guilt entered my mind before I even read your suggestion. Terrible hey? What is there to feel guilty about? I'm very poor at regulating my guilt emotion. Dave says I'm the most guilty non-catholic he has ever known. Mmmm. I'm working on it.

I'm a nut freak too. I'm still getting over them breaking up the nuts inside the chocolate. I liked it better when there were whole nuts inside and you could suck the chocolate off and then crunch away on the nut treasure. I suppose it is more cost effective to use lots of nutty remnants.

  7. Chocolate is my secret lover! We often meet for secret trysts that leave me feeling guilty afterwards. But I know chocolate is always there for me, in times of good and bad, so I always return to his loving embrace for more!

  8. Oh God Cath; Chocolate!!

Now, this might be why my butt is so huge, but I don't think "guilt" or "naughty" when I see chocolate, I think "MINE!" closely followed by "Yum!". ;)

  9. First word that pops into my head is "yum", very closely followed by "get out of my way, I've got to get close to that chocolate so I can EAT it"!

Love you're review - we're nuts at our house too!

  11. Chocolate always make sme think of being outdoors!
WE use bushwalks and camping as excuses to indulge in chocolate, and feel that we need it, deserve it or reward ourselves.
One hot trip the chocolate had melted so we had to eat it with a spoon!

  12. mmmm yumm Cadbury! Chocolate is like a reward for me. If I do something that I'm really proud of, I might have some chocolate chip cookies or a Kit-Kat...just makes me feel like I earned something :) haha

  13. The first thing that comes into my head is 'celebration' because there is always chocolate cake, brownies and more chocolate at our celebrations.

    I'm a follower too. :)

  14. 'Bestfriend' - this is the word that chocolate sums up for me. Chocolate literally is my bestfriend - always there when I need her to be her. Instantly making me feel better when the rain comes. X

  15. Eeeeeeek! Did someone mention the C word?
Hmmmm given that I've just eaten 6 freddo frogs with my cuppa, I think I must be one of cadbury's best customers.
The first thing that I think of when I see chocolate.... simple - YUM!

  17. You get all the cool giveaways!
To be honest I'm more of a savoury than a sweet girl but the farm boy is a chocaholic. I just asked him and he said 'yum' closely followed by 'eat'. Yep, he's a caveman.

  18. First thought? Yum!! Second thought? Completely irrational addiction to Snack chocolate for the last 5 months. Suspect it's related to the up the duffness thing, but still...bizzare.

I'm impressed with your boycotts. I've boycotted M since september 2001 (though I have used their loos in that time), and I've tried to boycott nestle since uni days (probably about 2005 when I started doing it properly), though they keep tripping me up by buying out brands that I usually buy - my most recent discovery is that they have a significant share in L'oreal who own the Body Shop. Grrrr.

  19. Lara walks into supermarket "OK, you only need milk and eggs, MILK and EGGS.....what's this? Oh yum. Chocolate. Why is it always right there....I was trying to avoid the lolly aisle....damn, 2 for $5, that's good, and my favourite flavour too. I suppose it wouldn't hurt, we'll just ration it out, it could last a week! Who am I kidding? They'll be lucky to see tomorrow morning. Ok, walk away...... Nope, you're mine, all mine, muahahahahaha!"
    What can I say? I'm an over-thinker.....

  22. "Ohhh, jeez, that looks good. I'd like to try that...". I can live with the guilt! And apparently the thighs and the bum.

  23. I've usually already gobbled it all up before I even think about the fact that I shouldn't eat it...

  24. Well when I see chocolate my mind stops thinking and my mouth does the thinking, it starts to drool, I begin swallowing and licking my lips!

  26. I'm not aiming to win the chocolate but I just wanted to say that I work with Cadbury (now owned by Kraft) in my real job, an environmental not for profit :)
