Noticing the flood

I noticed over the last few days of being flooded in, the house feels like it is shrinking by the hour
  • I noticed that at some point we all loose it over nothing and can get cranky.
  • I noticed that Chef , when bored, cooks carbs.
  • I noticed I cannot stop eating ( carbs) when I am flooded in.
  • I noticed that at least 5 times a day Chef or I will exclaim "STOP RAINING"
  • I noticed this starts as soon as our water tank is full (it was full three day ago)
  • I noticed that I feel like smoking when it rains. (I gave up 7 years ago)
  • I noticed that I sigh a lot and stare out the window
  • I noticed that we don't have a clothes dryer and wish we had one we could use a few times a year
  • I noticed that I let Busy eat loads of food I wouldn't normally let her eat.
  • I noticed that as soon as it stops raining Busy and I jump into our gum boots and go for a walk with Zac and it is so nice to be outside in the sun until it starts raining again.
  • I noticed Busy watches a lot of TV when we are flooded in.
  • I noticed there seems to be a lot more ( of Chefs) empty beer bottles when it floods.
  • I noticed that our gutters need cleaning out
  • I noticed we don't have a dry place to store firewood near the house

But the thing I notice the most, in fact more than anything, is that it absolutely SUCKS having an outside toilet when the rain is torrential. It really does.

What have you noticed today?

Your bearded what???

Yesterday, we went to a friends place in the afternoon. Cabin fever was making everyone act in a somewhat agitated manner and no one was playing nice anymore AND it is STILL raining! (thanks to every ones kind sympathy yesterday, driveway is not as bad as we thought- thanks to Super Bob Cat Man ....We aren't the only ones getting a little overwhelmed to say the least, Chef saw someone in town and they said they saw their neighbour walking in the pouring rain with just tshirt and shorts on and yelled out to him "Are you ok?" his reply 'Just had to get outside. 3 children. Unfinished house. Pregnant wife. ' 'nuff said.

Anyway we went to a friends place and she disclosed that she thought My Bearded Pigeon was some private joke between Chef and I , some secret euphemism for.... well it isn't. But speaking of My Bearded Pigeon a while ago I was contacted by a stylist to see if she could use my butterfly brooches for a photo shoot for Country Style.
Here it is, The green and black butterfly even made it onto the editors page and is also on the subscription lift out. Seems to have worked as someone bought 9 brooches the other day!

So excited to see My Bearded Pigeon name in PRINT!!!! EEEEEEeeeeeee!!!!!!!
Now back to praying for rain respite. When will it stop???

Bugger!!

Imagine, if you will for a moment, when you finally track down the absolute creme da la creme of bobcat drivers (yes there is such a thing) and he fixes your long steep driveway after it has been four wheel drive only for over a year. What the man can do with a small machine and some gravel is art I tell ya.

pic
Imagine your excitement to drive up said driveway on Friday after work ever so smoothly- unlike the usual  bumping, sliding and praying that takes place.

Imagine being able to tell your mates without AWD/4WD vehicles that they won't have to do a cardio workout to come and visit.

Imagine now it is Monday morning - knowing that it has pretty much rained for the last three days non stop. Not just rained - poured  and I mean it- may- possibly- flood- again- rain... and to watch that driveway slide away...............

Imagine.

I think I need retail therapy.

Don't forget my giveaway here.

Sigh.
