Robots for Vic

Lovely Vic from Punky and Me asked if I could make her new baby a rattle. Vic has not been having a great pregnancy the poor love so how could I refuse her? She asked if I could make it a  robot rattle. A robot- hmmmm how can I do that? Mind filled with self doubt...First stop flickr- nothing exciting there - other than these amazing softies discobots from Jodi. Mind whirring still, sketchbook at the ready....
Some ideas about cogs and screens and buttons and screws... decided I would make them out of felt as I just ordered a whole heap of wool felt with the idea of making gnomes for Busy's preschool but was severely intimidated by the neatness of Tania's  blanket stitch, however I thought I would give it a crack. I remembered how much I love working with this beautiful wool felt. And thanks to a post a million years ago from Sally about invisible thread! Who knew!? Well I didn't and new it would come in handy one day and it was perfect for sewing all the knobs and buttons onto this. Thanks Sally.

So Vic, I am holding my breath and hoping this is what you meant... here is your choice of robots...the green one was the first one but then I got on a roll and kept going... .

And to everyone else....should I keep making them? Should I put them on etsy? Critique please...( be kind I am fragile)

Copying update

Thank you to everyone for your kind words about my rattle being nicer. The item has been closed on madeit not sure if it sold or just closed- however the same rattle is still on etsy. I have actually confronted this same seller before and she said " I am so sorry , I have never seen yours etc etc etc I will take them down straight away, I am so embarrassed etc etc" . Its not just the wooden ring, it is the shape as well, basically its the cheek of it and being undercut, its breaking the "code' that as a handmade crafter I thought everyone adhered too- you don't rip each other off. Ironically she was the reason I actually wrote that post about copying a while ago and was wondering where to put it, here or on madeit forums etc. I have emailed her.

I feel like a bit of a four year old stamping my feet and having a tantrum so now that I am back home - this all happened this morning when I was in Sydney - a flight with an excited and thrilled to being flying and going home to see daddy 3 year old does put things in perspective-I am becoming calmer about it...and I am at the point of: Who cares? I like my rattles, I think they are so much better than those ones, who cares if she is copying? Or even if she is copying? I don't care anymore.  Mine are selling well, better than I ever could have hoped for- so why bother myself and get my knickers in a twist about it? It's not like I am planning on taking it to court or anything.... from here onwards and upwards.....

I cannot believe I just thought of this:

This is my very newest of new range of rattles. I cannot believe I have never thought to incorporate my love of all things moustache !! I have written before about my love of the mo  ( you really have to read that post I wrote in order to completely understand the love I have for the mo - it did involve the dress code at our wedding) so I cannot believe it has taken me this long to incorporate it into my softies! DER!!

I really really would like some feedback. I love them but will others??? ( I showed Busy and she giggled) PLEASE tell me what you think....
And these new monsters:
